THE INSPIRATIONAL STEVE TILSTON
Folk on the Coast are delighted to welcome the multi-talented and inspirational STEVE TILSTON as their main guest on Friday 24 February. This year, Steve is celebrating 40 years as a
professional musician, and if you ask anyone on the English folk and acoustic scene who their favourite guitarist, songwriter and entertainer is, then nine times out of ten, Steve`s name will
come in the top three of every department! Steve Tilston is one of the most celebrated song-smiths in the world of folk and contemporary music today, and the words, arrangements and subtle
quite superb guitar playing mean it could be no one else.
Steve was born in Liverpool and raised in the Midlands and made his recording debut in 1971 with the classic `An Acoustic Confusion`, and has been turning out quality albums ever
since, including `Life by Misadventure`, `And So it Goes` and `Such & Such`. His latest album, `The Reckoning` released last year has been highly acclaimed and is currently in line
for several awards.
Steve Tilston has toured with all the greats, including Fairport Convention, John Renbourne`s `Ship of Fools`, and been in stunning partnership with Maggie Boyle amongst many others. His
songs and music are constantly being played both here and abroad, and he has received accolades in Europe, Australia and the USA, and many of his compositions have been recorded by the
likes of Fairport, Dolores Keane, The House Band and the great Bruce Springsteen has done some of Steve`s music in his live stage sets.
The Daily Telegraph has said of Steve: "His musicianship is beyond question, while the arrangements set a standard against which other acoustic/roots albums ought to be measured" and Dave
Pegg of Fairport Convention has said: "He is one of my favourite performers. If you haven`t heard him, I suggest you go and check him out as soon as possible. A remarkable talent!".
